Lubricants

Drilling Oils, Oils for the Textiles Industry and Paraffin Waxes
Alkali-naphthenates are used as emulsifiers and for lattice formation in emulsifiable oils, in order to provide more stable liquid drilling oils.

Gear Oils and Cutting Oils
Heavy metal naphthenates are used to add high pressure resistance to these oils.

Lubricating Greases and Non-Fluid Oils
The thickening and gelling properties of sulphur naphthenates enhance the principle characteristics of these greases and oils. Aluminium naphthenate additives produce softer lubricating greases and even fluid oils, still with good high pressure resistant properties.

Engine Lubricating Oils
Alkaline earth metal naphthenates improve both the lubricating properties of oils and their dispersal effect (their ability to hold very small particles of dirt in suspension). Copper and lead naphthenates have an important role as anti-foam additives in aircraft engine fuels.
